From July 31
A little waffle breakfast on a Friday morning to get everyone ready for a good day!
Lilli was really sad it was her last day at Camp Widji. She was so excited to ride the bus one last time with her new friend Sofia. Sofia’s mom and I exchanged numbers to get the girls together for a playdate and also make sure they go the same week to Camp Widji next summer so they can be bus buddies again. I think next year we may do “First Camp” where she actually gets to spend two nights there at the camp in the middle of the week!
They did take pictures throughout the week and put them on their private, secured site. It’s hard to sort through all the tons of campers there, and some pics were just her elbow or other random background shots, but we saved off some of the better ones to keep.
The theme for the week was “pirates” so one day they had a huge treasure hunt. She’s in the front here with the polka heart shorts.
Having fun looking for treasure (just to the left of the pirate).
I think they had to find various things in nature and then that helped them through their clues.
One of her favorite things was riding the banana boat on the last day, and also archery. They didn’t get too many pictures of her group, it seems like most of the pics were the bigger kids. But, it was fun to see what all was going on at camp and see the things she’ll get to do as she gets older.
Her little group – the “Braves” girls. Her buddy Amelia is on her right in the blue shirt. I’m so glad they got to be in the same group together, it definitely made her mom and I feel better about this big adventure!
And their “silly” pic. Such a fun week.
On Friday afternoon Abbi and I waited for the big camp bus together. She’s not much of a waiter.
Meeting the big bus for the last time this summer!
She had a blast at their “closing ceremonies” and even got her face painted for her tribe’s colors.
Pool time! We headed straight over to the pool and Brent came and met us on his way home from work.
Closing down the pool. We definitely got our swim time in this summer, and weeknights were so much less crowded than going on Saturday or Sunday!
Lilli had a great, great week at Camp Widji and it was the perfect way to end the summer. She really can’t wait to go back next year and we’ll be a lot less nervous!!
